CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS2/FOX28) - Experts say the steps you take before jetting off on a plane will require more patience this holiday season, especially with recent heightened security. "You're probably going to check in a little bit earlier," Holly Kelly with the Cedar Valley World Travel said. Kelly said more security measures in place means the usual process will take a little bit longer. Thousands have fled homes and businesses in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After days of heavy rain, the Cedar River is overflowing, and is expected to crest Tuesday morning about seven feet above major flood stage, reports Scott Pelley.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — Residents of Cedar Rapids are watching anxiously as the quickly rising Cedar River threatens to inundate their city with devastating floodwaters for the second time in just over eight years. After days of sandbagging and erecting an extensive system of flood barriers, residents and officials in Iowa's second-largest city were simply waiting to see how high the Cedar River would rise and what impact the flood would have.
